Five years ago today we were riding the rails with Thomas!
And just two years before that, here’s what went wobbling its way through our kitchen. 🙂

Here are a couple of video glimpses of our fun, windblown day out at the Berkeley Kite Fest. (Click on either one to play it.) Pics to follow!
Listen in as Henry & his classmates sing about muñecos (dolls), being pizzas (without anchovies), and more. 🙂

During WGE’s recent Family Fun Night, Finn & pals showed off their budding Sign Language skills via The Lego Movie’s iconic jam, Everything is Awesome:
This is your son.
This is your son jacked up on a *lot* of frozen yogurt.
🙂
Axl Rose, take it away:
Check out our little song-and-dance men celebrating Multicultural Day at school. (You’d never know what a turbo-powered ham Finn can be while performing at home for a more limited audience. :-))
Yesterday I sprung the guys a bit early from school so that they could enjoy Google’s spring carnival, an outing full of bouncy houses, carnival rides, and free food. In this little gallery you can see them going head-to-head on a bungee-cord race & sliding down the “Epic Journey,” plus Henry “defeating” my teammate Clement on the blow-up obstacle course.
Here’s a quick video of the shenanigans:
After the festivities, the guys swung by my office to visit their kid-app-making pals in the Imaginarium. Even though the kids’ lab was locked, Henry made an immediate bee line & squeezed in through a hole in the wall! Later he left a little message to Googlers: “Hola, nerds.” 🙂

During last week’s Cinco de Mayo celebrations at school, Henry & his little chums cut a lot of rugs, gleefully clapping & executing “gancho” (hook) maneuvers. Here’s a little vid that Margot captured:
Guess who’s getting that two-wheelin’ feelin’? 🙂
The boys & I recently had a ball attending Google’s Take Your Child To Work Day. I’ll hopefully have more photos to share soon, but in the meantime here’s a peek at Finn holding forth with some friends who were seeking his & Henry’s input on a new app for kids. I left a meeting expecting to find them quietly buried in Legos in the kids’ lab, but instead they were recording presentations in front of a whiteboard. Are they my boys or what? 🙂

At noon yesterday we were in shirtsleeves, happily tossing rocks into Arkansas River rapids. This morning we’re in a whiteout, pulling on boots before more sledding. What a great trip!
“Did you say ‘eddy’ or ‘yeti’?” asks Henry, below. I’m just proud that he knows both terms. 🙂
Two squirrels, one tube—”and now Finn’s glasses are bifurcated!!” declares Hen. Check out some big, if somewhat destructive, fun we had yesterday:

Somehow despite living so close to San Francisco, we’d never actually gotten the lads aboard the famous cable cars. Today, following a fun visit to the Exploratorium, we put that bit of bad parenting to rest. 🙂 Check it out:
I never quite got around to posting this footage last summer after we enjoyed a thrilling ride in a vintage powerboat own by our friend Pauline’s friend John. Now, courtesy of the video-making technology I’ve been working on at Google, here’s a brief peek at Micronaxx on the waves:
The Bash Brothers’ mini-slugfest continues at T-ball. 🙂 Note the moment where Henry decides that a missed high-five is reason enough to reverse course.

One of my favorite childhood possessions was & is a tiny boxed set of Mercer Mayer’s four books about “A Boy, A Dog, and a Frog.” Here my dad delights the boys—as he & my mom used to delight me—with a dramatic “reading” of one wordless tale. 🙂
Mom-O had the fun idea of celebrating Finn’s birthday with a trip to the nearby Build-A-Bear Workshop. Both lads got to pick out & create a new buddy—and both picked Toothless, scaly star of “How To Train Your Dragon.” Afterwards they introduced Grandma & Grandpa to the movie. Here’s a peek into the workshop:
Years ago in New York, I worked with a coder/heavy metal musician who sported butt-length blonde hair & leather pants at work. He had a charming habit of yelling things like “Nack, you’re a wreck!!” and then letting a falsetto phrase or two rip. For some reason Finn & his lion decided to channel him the other evening. :-p
