Our pal Samantha tells us that on Friday she attended the wreathing of the Chicago Art Institute’s famous lions, reminding me that I’d somehow totally whiffed on sharing the pics from our great outing with her there in September. She & Henry set out for a day of train adventures while Margot, Finn, & I checked out the museum. Later Finn & I made our way to Lincoln Park Zoo to meet Sahar the lion in both flesh & stuffed forms (only one of which came home with us 😌), and in the evening we took in the views from atop the Chicago Athletic Association before making our way back to the Palmer House. Check out the gallery from our action-packed day!
On Sunday Hen & I cruised over to the historic Santa Clara Depot to enjoy their giant model train layout & peruse the wares on sale. “What a buy,” as Grandma Nack might’ve put it 😌: we scored a ton of old trestles, buildings, and even cars for super cheap (three coaches for a buck!). Afterwards Hen scarfed down a hot dog & secured a few waves from passing CalTrain engineers. Check it out:
The lads & I are just back from a quick “Guys’ Weekend” camping outing to Mount Diablo (about 60 miles from home) with my friend Justin, his 18-month-old son Jackson, his friend Danny, and Danny’s two little boys (ages 3 & 2). We rolled up in the Westy, popped the roof, and had some good fun hiking, roasting s’mores, and helping corral the younger guys. Little Jackson took a particular shine to Henry, and from his tent at bedtime he kept repeating “‘enRY! ‘enRY!” until I fetched our guy to help tuck him in. 😌 Here’s a gallery (in which I appear for once!—thanks, Justin) from the outing, plus a 360º drone shot (which you can click & drag to navigate) of the spectacular sunset.
