Gotcha Day 3!

Wow—I can hardly believe that today marks the three-year anniversary of our fluffy, goofy, once-little guy arriving at our home!

It’s insane to remember how small he once was & just how quickly he zoomed to AT-AT Size (maybe 6 months, tops):

Finn & I took him on a three-mile walk this morning, and I type this our man is noisily chomping his way on “The Bosstrich,” a giant leg bone of an ostrich that we bought to celebrate the occasion.

Here’s a little gallery showing our celebrations. Here’s to many happy returns, curly amigo!!

Gotcha Day!

What a difference a year makes! Friday marked exactly a year since we picked up Mr. Seamus Murdog Nack from the airport (video), and my how he’s grown (both literally and on us):

We celebrated the occasion by getting him dolled up with a fresh haircut & his Christmas bandana, then serving up a delicious (and instantly consumed!) cookie:

We hope that this is just the first of many happy returns for Mr. S in our fam. Check out the whole Seamus category for some fun memories from our first year together.

Sox that rock

What’s the next best thing to cuddling up to one’s best pooch all day? How about having him keep one’s toes warm all day?

Finn reports that these custom socks, which I commissioned using a pic from Seamus’s birthday, are the softest in his whole drawer. I must say, the guys make a fetching (hah) pair. 😌

Golden Gate Romp

Knowing how much Seamy likes to run around with pals, we loaded up the Westy yesterday & headed to the SF Doodle Romp, a gathering of—you guessed it—all kinds of ‘doodle mixes (goldendoodles, labradoodles, etc.). Our man was in heaven, to the point that he & a few new buddies decided to make a break for the seashore! After a few tense & breathless minutes of chasing, we were able to track him down—a highly emotional moment for Finn that you can see in the gallery from our day.

Merry Chrismoose

Hey everyone—Merry Christmas!

We had a ball celebrating our first nativity with the Sea-Moose, hanging around Chez Nack and opening a bunch of terrific gifts before wolfing down the googley-eyed cookie trees we made. Since we’re in Carmel for a couple of days, I’ll keep things brief for now & just pass along our photo gallery to check out.

All the best to your & yours from all of us!

Seamy’s Fur-st!

Our big furry boy Seamus turned 1 year old on Friday, December 6th! We are so happy to have this fuzzy goofball in our lives. Hard to believe he’s been with us since February! We have all come to love him so much, and he is the perfect addition to our family, especially our Westy adventures.

Finn was so excited to celebrate the big day with his dog – he’d been talking about it for weeks! We found a recipe for a dog-friendly “pupcake,” complete with frosting, to make for him, and our lovely dog-walker Terry brought him a bag of treats, balloons, and party hats to help celebrate. Here is a gallery showing our buddy on his big day.

Seamus Size: Now vs. Then

As long as we’re reminiscing about Mr. S., let’s compare February to November. 😝🥰🐕

9 Months of Moose

As we get ready to celebrate Seamus’s first birthday, Google Photos happened to whip up a fun little retrospective of some moments we’ve shared with our young employee of the month since he joined our fam back in February. I especially love that Google keeps mistaking Finn’s little stuffed buffalo Bert for a very young Seamus. 🥰 Check out the quick tour:

By comparison, here’s the wee man when first we met!

Seamus Nack, “Employee of the Month”

Finn’s recently come to love the comedy Superstore, and for Halloween he decided to dress up as clueless manager Glenn, with Seamus joining in as his Employee of the Month!

On Sunday we headed over to a costumed-dog parade (yes, laugh it up, Dad, this is who we are now 😜) in downtown Willow Glen. In the car on the way over, Seamus got cozy with me in the back seat. “Good thing he sat on your lap & not mine,” Finn tells me, “’cause otherwise it would’ve been a violation of company code.” 😛

Here’s our album of photos, including some Seamus-eye views.

All The Young Doods

Having heard about it from a lady passing by with her poodles, we headed down to Carmel last weekend to check out the crazy Poodle Day parade—and to let Mr. Seamus (“See-muhs,” according to the MC 🙄😌) strut his stuff on the cat (er, dog) walk. The event drew multi-colored pups & humans from all over the country, and we were treated to a truly rich cast of characters. Check out our photo gallery plus this view of our man in motion:

Farmer Seamus & the “Big Giant Dogs”

Sure, the dog park is great, but how about meeting some really big amigos—in the form of horses & cows?

A couple of weeks ago we took Mr. Seamus over to our friend Matthias’s farm for some R&R with the animals (livestock, goats, cats—you name it). Check out some photos & videos I captured while Henry tried his hand at driving the four-wheeler.

Then for Labor Day weekend, the whole gang loaded into the Westy and took off to camp near Morro Bay, not far from San Luis Obispo & Hearst Castle. There too our pal got to interact with some horses while eating his fill of their stash of carrots. The rest of us enjoyed exploring town, finding antiques at an art fair in the park, searching vainly for Pop Tarts, and trying to take down a truly intimidating burger. Check out a few shots of the adventure.

Big Sur 2019

Last weekend, after way too many months of drought in our Westy family adventures, we fired up the red gal and journeyed (with Seamus!) down the coast to camp in Big Sur. My friend Jim had booked a campsite just across Highway 1 from a rocky beach, and we had fun making a quick overnight outing of it.

Seamus in particular seems to have had a blast, roughhousing like mad with a fellow Goldendoodle pup (Parker), who outweighed him by a full 20 lbs. He came home a filthy burr-encrusted wreck, but after a thorough hose-down at home he was good as new.

Check out a gallery of our shots as well as an interactive panorama I captured via my drone during the short burst of golden sunshine that preceded sunset.

Mick, Marin, and Mare Island

The dudes (including Seamus!) and I got the Westy back in action this past weekend, enjoying a most excellent trip to SF & points beyond. Poor Margot took a spill on her scooter last week, so it was just us guys heading up to meet my old friend Mick Swiney (just as great as ever nearly 20 years later) on the waterfront below the Bay Bridge.

After dropping Mick off we headed across the Golden Gate to Marin Co. to help our friends Monica & Peter celebrate their 50th birthdays & 20th anniversary. Afterwards the lads & I journeyed to the old Navy base on Mare Island for some quick camping & droning while Seamus “pollinated himself” (as Finn put it), happily rolling in the bounty from our trees.

Check out our gallery from the trip as well as an interactive 360º panorama from our campsite.

Moose of the Sea

We spent a wonderful (if salty, sandy, and tiring) Easter Sunday enjoying the beach & giving Mr. Seamus his first taste of the sea—making him at last the long-prophesied Sea Moose. 😌 Besides play-battling other dogs & digging well into the earth’s crust, Seamus enjoyed crashing out next to our little shade tent & standing dutiful, excitable watch against marauding seagulls. Check out a little gallery of photos, plus this vid of his seaside stylings:

Hot-rodded cars & pups

We had a busy weekend with Grandma & Grandpa Nack. While Grandma braved the long lines of La Villa to score us some raviolis, Henry got up close with a beautifully hot-rodded Model T:

The next day, it was a posse of puppies that got all spun up. Check out Seamus’s first puppy social:

Meet the famous Mr. Seamus!

He’s here, he’s here!

After many months of deliberation and research, we finally have our own pup—the happy & wiggly Mr. Seamus Liem Murdog Nack! He flew in on Thursday afternoon, and we’ve been having a ball having him explore the yard, make himself at home in Finn’s room, and generally make our lives at least 200% more fluffy. 😌 He’s kept us busy enough that I’ve hardly gotten to take my customary raft of photos, but you know those are coming! Meanwhile, check out his arrival:
